Growing Out of My Comfort Zone

Passivity

The definition of passivity is not active but acted upon; or accepting without resistance. When I am acting passively, I usually never get the result that I desire and instead find myself resentful and not satisfied. I often find myself addressing my needs in an indirect, passive aggressive manner rather than being direct and honest. When I have an attitude of passivity, I find myself disconnected and alone. It can be difficult for me to address things assertively. When I am passive, it is because I am trying to avoid conflict. However, being passive does not resolve anything and most of the time only escalates the conflict. I have learned that the only way for me to grow in both recovery and in life is to push out of my comfort zone and to directly communicate my feelings with others.
